Pathway -Exploratory -Wood 1 -Wood 2 My pathway is wood shop. I began in exploratory my freshmen year. By sophomore year I was in wood 1 and by junior year I began wood 2. After finishing those three classes I had no other option but to take residential construction which provides higher skills given to a student.
Job Reflective Narrative I job shadowed a barber named Cesar at Wild Bill's barber shop. The reason why I did that was because I am very interested in being a barber. I asked many questions about the education and the training requirements I need for that job. But the answer he gave me was one that I wasn’t expecting. He said the program doesn’t teach you anything about cutting hair, it’s all hands on by yourself. After finishing with the program they give you a barber licence all this could be accomplished in two years. Throughout the day I absorbed how he cut people’s hair. But one certain person had really long hair. Cesar told me that there is a certain machine to cut long hair and it’s called a master machine. He showed me the types of machines and the clips he used to cut different type of hair. There are specific machines used to make designs and there are different types of machines to cut long hair. I learned that there is a program in Bakersfield and in Visalia. But there is a big difference in financial expenses. At the Bakersfield program it will cost and estimate of 8,000. But for the Visalia program it will cost 2,000. I also learned that i can start the program now while i'm in high school. A question I asked him for this type of job was how did he see this type of job changing in the future. The response he told me was more gathering in the barbershop community. For everyday that passes I get more interested in this job. Not just to have a job but to have a career. There are many upsides to this career. I Would enjoy just the fact that I can get creative and put a smile on someone's face after a haircut.
